Being Transformed

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” – Romans 12:1-2

In this letter, Paul shifts his focus from the indicative to the imperative.  In other words, he shifted from what God has done for those who are in Christ, to what we are now commanded to do in response.

Paul is writing to the saints in Rome urging them to be devoted to God because anything less than that is short of God’s glory.

Today, there are many who process the name of Jesus, but they still living a worldly life.  The profess that Jesus is Lord, however, their hearts are far from Him.  But the transformed Christian not only says that Jesus is Lord, but he does so because when Jesus is Lord, he lives differently from the world.

So, the question I have for you is, are you being conformed to the standards of the world, or are you transformed by the Word of God?
